I loved getting to watch your respect for and remembrance of your father. I feel, in many ways, Korean food is one of the ways I show my love for for my son, my wife, and the rest of my family. I have been ill, and don’t have a long time ahead of me. It brings a sense of calm, knowing my son can access any of the recipes and cook them for his family someday. I tell my son that, if I’m no longer around, he will find me in the foods we ate together. Tonight will be kimchi jiggae with simmered pork loin. And Korean rice. And beer.

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt personal story. Children who grow up eating their parents' food never forget those flavors. Food is not just food—it’s also a way to connect the bonds of family. I'm sure your son, too, will seek out the recipes his parents used to make. I lost my mother last year, but every time I make the dishes my mother and father loved, I think of them and recall fond memories. I hope you enjoyed the kimchi stew!

Thank you for teaching me how to cook, after i moved out so young. Your recipes are well thought out and written, Your connection to your readers and recipe enthusiasts is both awe-inspiring AND seemingly never-ending & gentle. Your replies to even the comments on past recipes has been instrumental in my confidence building AND exploration! (and the comfort of your reader/viewers to WANT and be thrilled to share and leave tips and show you what they've done!!)

All of it combined has helped me so much to learn at now 28(!!) after not getting a chance to learn before. thank you, Maangchi <3
